By Wendy Wasserstein
Directed By David A. Henshaw

Sara Goode was expecting her two sisters, Gorgeous and Pfeni, for her 54th birthday party, her teenage daughter Tess and boyfriend and sister Pfeni's bi-sexual boyfriend, Geoffrey. The addition of Merv Kant, Geoffrey's faux furrier, is unbalancing, and takes nearly all the characters on a journey of self-discovery.

Barre Players are pleased to announce the cast for their upcoming production of Wendy Wasserstein's "The Sisters Rosensweig," a comedy, directed by David A. Henshaw, which will run Oct. 9-19. Playing the eldest sister, Sara Goode, a London Banker celebrating her 54th birthday, is Celia Daniels of North Brookfield.  Her  younger sisters, Gorgeous, who has a call-in advice show on Newton radio, and the youngest, Pfeni, a peripatetic journalist, are portrayed by Sally Howe of Orange and Wendy Scott of Holden.  Her daughter, Tess, concerned about the homeless living under Charing Cross Station as well as the Lithuanian resistance movement, is played by Sarah Brown of Worcester.   The men in these womens' lives are Geoffrey, a British theater director and bisexual, played by Joel Hersh of Leominster and a faux furrier friend of his, Merv Kant, who is instantly smitten with Sara, portrayed by John Capone of Oakham.  Also, Tess's Liverpudlian boyfriend of Lithuanian parents, Tom, played by Nick Adams of Athol and Nick Pym, a stuffy Brit friend of Sara's played by Charles Tower of Athol.  A special feature is the opening night performance, Thursday, Oct. 9, when the donation of non-perishable food to Tess Goode's Goodie Basket will allow you to purchase two tickets for the price of one; items will go to a local food pantry.
